Presentation Again

11th January 2013;

Assalamualaikum.

Today is my group presentation. Me and my partner, Aizureen had presented about pronouns. Pronouns is the word that substitutes for a noun. After we finished presenting the slide, we do a little bit of exercises for our friends in the class. 

Next, Aiman's group turn to do the presentation. Aiman and Rahman presented about articles, conjuctions and prepositions. I get a lot of knowledges after they finished presenting. They also do some exercises for us.

By the way, you all can search more about pronouns, articles, conjunctions and prepositions to get more information about it.

Non-linear text

8th January 2013;

Assalamualaikum.

For today's class, we had learnt about non-linear text which we will have to answer in the examination. For your information, non-linear text is about text that are not in paragraph state but it is in graphic state such as graph, table and so on. It is interpretation of information presented graphically. Based on the tips that Miss Zur gave, I know that this non-linear text question is hard so I need to do more exercises to achieve my target.

• Spend 5 minutes reading the graphs/charts etc.
• Make sure you understand axes.
• Make sure you follow lines on graph.
• Focus on the key information.
• If two graphs - compare them.
• Think about the time period - tenses .
• Vary your vocabulary.
• Organize information clearly.
• Write neatly.

Debate !

7th January 2013;

Assalamualaikum.

Debate is the most activity that I hate since I was in high school. Erghhhh! -.- But for today Miss Zur wants us to do debate in our class. Huhu. We need to divide into 4 groups which has 6 members for each groups. My group member are me, Hasyimah, Syahira, Rahman, Asmidah and  Maizatul. We are from opponent side. Our topic is ' Is it considered cheating when your partner (girlfriend / boyfriend / husband / wife) was cheking on other beautiful girls / boys / men / women on Facebook (poking, liking, etc) ?. As a team, we work together to fight the other team. Haha. 

Before we end the class, we need to choose the best debators. And the best debators are Zureen, Syahira (from my team), and yeah Haziq Amir, hmm.

Grammar again

4th January 2013;

Assalamualaikum.

Friday is the day for grammar presentation and it was Aisyah's and Shahindah's group turn to present grammar. Aisyah and Maizatul made a slide about Adjective and Shahindah and Azreen presented about Adverbs. We played game on the end of the both sessions and it was great because i can understand about Adjectives and Adverbs. I hope that the presentation can help me more about grammar.

Main Idea

1st January 2013;

Assalamualaikum.

Today I had learnt about distinguishing main ideas and supporting details. Miss Zur had taught us how to find the main ideas in the paragraph. We had to read carefully the paragraph then we have to find which the supporting details so that we can know what it the main ideas. If we can detect which is the supporting details or not, it make easier to us to find the main idea. But there are also paragraph that won’t give us the main ideas straight forward. We had to read it and understand the paragraph to get the main idea. Then, we need to create our own sentence for the main idea but it must suitable with the paragraph. We cannot simply write without understand the paragraph.

As usual, every class must have an activity. For today activity, Miss Zur shows us two videos and wants us to find the main idea about the video. Before that, we need to make a group. So that we can discussed together with our group.

Acting time !

31st December 2012;

Assalamualaikum.

This is the first class of Bel 260 after the mid-sem break. Today Miss Zur wants us to do the acting activities. Okay, honestly I hate this activity and I don't know why -.- We had to act based on any of the P. Ramlee's movies. We need to divide into 5 groups. My group members are me, Syaziella, Syahindah and Farah Nabila. We choose the Seniman Bujang Lapok movie to re-act back.

For this activity, actually we all can enhance our confident level to talk infront of the other people and can show our hidden talent. It is a good activity actually. Before we end our class, we need to choose the best group performance, best actor and best actress. And the winner are, jeng jeng jeng jeng LOL!

Skimming & Scanning

Assalamualaikum.

Lesson for today is Reading Comprehension. We need to know all the techniques that we can use when we do the reading comprehension questions. The techniques are skimming and scanning. Skimming is the process of quickly identify the main ideas. There are some tips for us to do better skimming which are read the document or report-quickly, only the main point; read the first and the last paragraphs using headings, summaries; read the headings, sub-headings and illustration. When seeking a specific information, consider reading the first sentence of each paragraph and take note of any italicised or boldfaces word or phrases. Skimming works well for finding dates as well as names of people and places. It is also useful for reviewing graphs, tables and charts.

Next, scanning is a reading skill used to find specific information quickly. While contextual reference have four types that are rewording the main word, giving its synonym, giving its antonym and giving details.

After that, we had to divide into 4 groups because Miss Zur wants to do some activity about reading comprehension.

Introduction for essay

Assalamualaikum.

Today we had a lesson about writing which is how to write the introduction in essay. The introduction is the most important part in an essay because we need to make a great introduction to attract people to read our essay. For introduction, there are three elements that we need to know which are the hook, transition and thesis statement. There are seven kind of hook that we had learnt which are personal examples, quotations, facts or statistics, rhetorical question, current events, contrast to the thesis statement and definition.

Then, Miss Zur asked us to divide ourself into a group that have 3 person in each group. My group is me, Zureen and Aisyah. The group leader must take one of the type of hook that Miss Zur gave. We got the PERSONAL EXPERIENCE topic. After that, Miss Zur gave a topic for us to write the introduction based on the hook that we get. We started to write the introduction based on the points that we had disscused together in our group.
